Chiesa di San Lorenzo Martire is a beautiful Roman Catholic church located in the Italian city of Ascoli Piceno. Built around 1150, it is one of the most important churches of the city and the region. It was originally a fortress, but later was converted into a church, with some re-building works done in the following centuries. It is a great example of Romanesque architecture, with its large double mullioned windows and small towers. Inside the church, visitors will find interesting frescoes, some of them dating back to the XIII century. There is also a baroque style reredos, decorated with original Gothic sculptures. Ascoli Piceno is a wonderful city and its Chiesa di San Lorenzo Martire is an absolute must-see, so make sure to add it to your itinerary!
