The Chicago River Wabash Bridge is one of the most historic and iconic bridges in Chicago, Illinois. It was constructed in 1912 and sits at the intersection of Wabash Ave and the Chicago River. It is a double-decked bascule bridge, the upper deck carrying four rail lines and the lower deck for six lanes of motor traffic. The bridge is very photogenic with its sandstone Arches, Neo-Classical decorations, sun rays, and two colors of limestone and sandstone. Tourists can get a great view of the bridge from the North end of the River near Navy Pier or from the south side at Wabash Bridge Park. The bridge also offers good views of the Chicago skyline. But be careful while taking pictures as the bridge can be very crowded.
