Chicago Harbor Lock is a facility located in the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, United States. It is used to raise or lower boats between the two river basins. It was built in 1900 and is the only lock system between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River. The Chicago Harbor Lock also has a large movable shed, which was used for commercial trade. This lock features a variety of attractions on its lockside walkway, including benches where visitors can take a break and enjoy the view. It is also a great spot for birdwatching and observing the nearby skyline. There is also a pedestrian bridge nearby, which provides a great vantage point to observe the Chicago River.
