The Chicago Harbor Lighthouse is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city of Chicago. Located off the shore of Lake Michigan, it stands as a beacon to ships in the harbor. It is the oldest standing lighthouse in the city, built in 1832 and used for more than 100 years before being renovated in 2003. Visitors to the area can access the grounds around the lighthouse to explore and admire the unique structure. In addition to the lighthouse, the grounds feature a variety of small out-buildings, walkways, and a large variety of trees and flowers. For photographers, it can provide some stunning vantage points of the harbor, with the wide variety of buildings rising around it. The site is open to the public year round, so adventurers are always welcome, and a small donation is requested to help support the operations.
