The Chicago Fire Department Lake Michigan is one of the most iconic landmarks in Chicago. Located on the north side of Lake Michigan, the facility is home to Fire Department's Dive Rescue Unit, Marine Unit and Marine Container Unit. This is the place from which the Chicago Fire Department conducts river, lake, and harbor rescue activities, ice rescue, and waterway security operations. There are several picturesque boardwalks and marina along the lake that make for a great place to walk or relax. In addition to the excellent views of the lake, visitors can also enjoy a good range of restaurants, shops, and a small beach on the south end of the lake. There are even some great opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and other water sports. Being the home of Chicago's fire department, this place is a must-see stop while you're in the city.
