Chebika is a mountain oasis near Tamerza in western Tunisia, where the arid highlands approach the Algerian border. A spring feeds a narrow gorge lined with date palms, small pools and a waterfall, creating a striking contrast with the surrounding ochre rock. Above the water stand the weathered stone and mud-brick remains of the old village, abandoned after severe flooding in 1969, while the modern settlement lies below. The most recognizable views pair the palm-filled ravine with layered cliffs and ruined walls; strong sunlight emphasizes the canyon’s rough textures, while shade around the spring deepens the greens and water tones. Paths through the gorge are rocky and uneven.
