Château Mercier
📍 Switzerland
Château Mercier is a former castle in the city of Sierre, Switzerland. Built in the 16th century, it was originally used as a private residence in the area. In 1981, it was restored to its former allure, and opened to the public. This castle is so impressive that it was even described by Alexander Dumas in his novel The Three Musketeers. The grounds contain a beautifully preserved interior and exterior with numerous interesting features and artifacts, like the ancient entrance gate which has the shape of a lion's head. One of the many highlights of the castle is the Chapel Saint-Crépin with its impressive plaster work typical of the period. If you're looking for stunning views, you can also climb up to the top of the Castle's tower and observe the mountain scenery panorama. Château Mercier is truly a remarkable monument to behold and a must-see for any traveler.
