Chateau de Villandry is a 16th century French château located in Villandry, in France's Loire Valley. It is noted for its Renaissance gardens, which are among the best preserved in France. The château, built in the 1530s, was originally a castle, but it was expanded and renovated by Olivian Arnault to include gardens and a double-moat. The castle is built of stone, with four towers around a central keep, and its gardens include formal terraces, flower beds, and three dies (water gardens). The gardens are divided into themed sections, each with its own geometry and construction, including a water garden, a flower garden, and an ornamental vegetable patch. The Chateau de Villandry is a popular tourist attraction in the Loire Valley and a great destination for anyone who enjoys history, architecture, gardens, and French culture.
