Located in Maincy, France, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a beautiful monument full of 17th century French design and culture. It was built between 1657 and 1661 by Nicolas Fouquet, finance minister for Louis XIV, and was intended to be used as a royal residence. The château is made up of two parts: the inner keep and the outlying château. The inner keep is a large structure with a tower, while the outlying château is made up of 2 wings, a pavilion, and a garden pavilion. The château's gardens are one of its main attractions, and they are often considered the best French example of the Andalusian-style Baroque garden. The gardens feature fountains, ponds, and terraces, as well as a wide range of plantings. The château is open to visitors and can be explored from the inside and the outside.
