Château de Spesbourg is a 13th-century castle in the town of Andlau, France. It boasts the oldest sculpted doorway in the country, with two Romanesque lions carved into its frame. Inside the castle there are preserved residences of nobles as well as fragments of wall paintings in the Chapel of the Holy Cross. In the castle's inner court there is a well-preserved Roman cistern. On the castle's upper terrace, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. Close to the castle is a memorial park with beautiful gardens, lawns, and ponds filled with fish. The grounds around the castle are open to the public free of charge, making it a great place to explore and admire the architectural beauty of Middle Ages with stunning views of nearby mountains and the valleys.
