The Chateau de Compiegne is an impressive 18th century castle located in the small town of Compiegne, in Northern France. It is an iconic sight that's been an important part of the Compiegne landscape for centuries. The castle features an exquisite French Baroque style architecture with curved domes, ornate facades, numerous statues, sumptuous interiors and an extensive park. Visitors of the chateau can explore a variety of formal gardens, ponds, the site of the armistice declaration, and a refectory from the 17th century. The castle is most well known for its association with Napoleon and his government during his last period of reign. There are currently several tours available around the grounds with audio guides, allowing visitors to explore ancient footsteps and get to know the fascinating history behind the castle.
