Château de Chillon is a medieval castle located in Veytaux, Switzerland on the shores of Lake Geneva. Built in the 12th century, it is one of the most well-preserved historical sites in the country. The castle is a popular tourist attraction and was the inspiration for Lord Byron's famous poem, The Prisoner of Chillon. Its main features include a Romanesque church, a drawbridge, three courtyards, and several towers. Visitors to the castle can admire the magnificent stone architecture and enjoy the stunning views from its location on the shores of Lake Geneva. Inside the castle, visitors can also explore its many history rooms, discover its traditions and visit the museum. At the end of the visit, visitors can wander through the majestic forest around the castle. Château de Chillon is the perfect spot for a day trip and a must-see attraction for anyone visiting this part of Switzerland.
