Château de Chenonceau is a 16th century castle stretching across the River Cher, near the Loire Valley in the town of Chenonceaux, France. The castle is one of the most visited and photographed of the Loire Valley, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world each year.

Originally built in the 15th century, the castle was subsequently enlarged by King Henry II of France, and then by his wife, Queen Catherine de' Medici. The castle contains a large, beautiful garden and park surrounding the main lodge and stretches out into the acreage surrounding the castle.Inside, there is a library and grand hall to get lost in, as well as the eye-catching double arches spanning the river, encased by wide stone vaulting. The château also contains a collection of tapestries, paintings and antiques. The castle is now owned and managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, the public body responsible for the preservation of France's heritage, who strive to maintain the site's renowned history and charm. It can be appreciated on daily tours, visiting art exhibitions and many special events held throughout the year.
