Château de Chambord, a 16th century castle in France, is one of the largest and most iconic in the country. It is famous for its distinctive French Renaissance architecture and the amazing double spiral staircase. The castle was built by King Francis I as a hunting lodge, and today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its most famous feature is its' doublehelix grand staircase, and its many formal gardens, designed in a style of a French garden. One of the most impressive parts of the castle is its vast and varied assortment of chimneys and towers. The castle is open all year round and visitors can explore more than four hundred rooms, which include an arcade of galleries, and an impressive rooftop terrace.
