The Chateau d’Azay-le-Rideau is an impressive, 16th-century French manor located in the small town of Azay-le-Rideau in central France. This stunning Renaissance château was designed by Francois Raffin and is now open to the public as a tourist attraction. Constructed primarily from stone, it stands majestically on an island positioned in the middle of the Indre river and surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors may freely explore the lavish stately rooms and gardens, taking in the incredible view. The dressings on the walls, ceilings and furniture have been hand carved from wood and stone, with an abundance of intricate detail. The stone dressed turrets and parapets situated atop the château’s keep boast a spectacular view of the river and nearby town. Visitors may also take the opportunity to explore the surrounding forest before returning to the château.
