Nestled on an island in the Indre River near Tours, the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau is a beautiful example of French Renaissance architecture. Built in the 16th century by a local noble, the stunning façade is lined with stone arcades, diamond patterns and ornate carvings. Inside, visitors can expect to find classic period furniture, tapestries and beautiful frescos. From the terraces, you can enjoy picture-perfect views of the majestic manor house, bridges, and gardens. There is a museum featuring cars and carriages, exhibits as well as a shop with handicrafts and souvenirs. A guided tour is available and recommended.
