Chartres, France is a small city in the Eure-et-Loir department of the Centre-Val de Loire region in northwestern France. Chartres is known as the ‘City of Light’, and for good reason: every evening throughout the year the city is illuminated by gorgeous soft yellow lights that glow alongside the rivers Loir and Clain and around its stunning medieval cathedral. The Gothic-style Cathédrale Notre-Dame dates back to the 12th Century and is a perfect place to be awestruck by beautiful stained glass windows containing over 1000 compositions and an incredible labyrinth. Nearby, the St.Pierre-le-Puellier church which was built in the 11th Century features even more interesting details. Other points of interests are the Espace des Sciences, the Museum of Fine Arts with its interesting antiques, and the Old Town.
