Change Islands is a traditional outport in Notre Dame Bay, off Newfoundland’s northeastern coast, between New World Island and Fogo Island. The settlement occupies two islands linked by a bridge across a narrow channel, known locally as a tickle. Its wooden houses, fishing stages, and waterfront stores reflect a community shaped by the cod fishery, with buildings clustered close to the water where boats landed their catch. Red-painted sheds and pale clapboard homes stand against exposed gray rock, while the sheltered channel brings boats, wharves, and reflections into the same frame. Views across the tickle reveal the close relationship between domestic life and the working shoreline.
