Chimelong Ocean Kingdom is a marine-themed amusement park on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, near Macau, combining large aquariums with roller coasters and elaborate waterfront scenery. Its defining landmark is the Whale Shark Aquarium, crowned by an enormous blue whale-shark sculpture that turns the building itself into part of the spectacle. Inside, whale sharks and rays move past a vast viewing window, where visitors’ silhouettes provide a striking sense of scale. Around the central lagoon, colorful marine-inspired façades and looping coaster tracks reveal the park’s other identity: an immersive entertainment landscape rather than a conventional aquarium. Photographs here can shift between the subdued blue of the underwater exhibits and the exaggerated shapes and saturated colors outdoors.
