📍 From Beach, India
Chandra Taal, also known as the "Moon Lake," is a stunning high-altitude lake in the Lahaul and Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Its crescent shape offers spectacular photographic opportunities, particularly during sunrise and sunset when the surrounding mountains reflect beautifully in its crystal-clear waters. The lake is accessible by a moderately challenging trek through rugged terrain, providing unique angles and vistas for capturing dramatic landscapes. The area is devoid of trees, amplifying the stark contrast between the clear blue sky and the barren, rocky land. Given the pristine environment, ensure to keep photography eco-friendly and avoid disrupting the delicate local ecosystem. The best time to visit is from late June to October, as the roads often close due to heavy snow during winter months. Be prepared for cold weather, and considering its high altitude (approximately 4,300 meters), take necessary precautions to combat altitude sickness.
