The Chancellor Complex is the architectural centerpiece of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Seri Iskandar, near Bota in Perak. Designed by Foster + Partners for Malaysia’s tropical climate, the complex links the university’s ceremonial hall and Information Resource Centre beneath expansive steel canopies that provide shade while giving the ensemble a light, futuristic profile. Repeated columns, exposed structural elements, glazed surfaces and sweeping rooflines create strong symmetry and depth, while pools and polished materials can introduce reflections. The contrast between monumental scale and open, sheltered walkways makes the complex one of the campus’s most recognizable views.
