Kruger National Park in South Africa is one of the largest and most famous game reserves in Africa. It is part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, extending across the Limpopo River into the neighbouring countries of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. There are over 500 bird species, 147 mammal species and 336 tree species in the park. Wildlife hotspots include the lowveld, where lions, elephants, buffalos and rhinos can be spotted, as well as miles and miles of savannah grassland. Kruger also boasts a rich tradition of cultural history, including more than 100 archaeological sites. Numerous lodges, camping sites and game drives are available from local operators, making it a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
