The Certosa e Museo di San Martino is an impressive monastery and museum situated at the top of a hill in the heart of Naples. It was built following orders from Charles V of Aragon in 1368, and it housed monks from the Carthusian order. The monastery has been home to numerous royal figures throughout its long history, including Tommaso Dei, the last Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller. Inside the monastery, visitors will find a large church and an impressive art gallery, featuring a vast collection of paintings, frescoes, sculptures, and tapestries. The museum is also a great spot to get a glimpse into Italy's culture and traditions. It houses many artifacts and documents, providing valuable insight into the region's past. Additionally, there is a large garden that boasts wonderful panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. It's a great place to spend a few hours exploring the area's history and culture.
