📍 Argentina
Cerro de 14 Colores (literally translated as Hill of 14 Colors) sits in the desert of Coctaca in north-western Argentina, just south of the Bolivian border. It offers breathtaking views over the many shades of natural red, orange and yellow of the stratified rocks, and the contrasting brown and beige tones of the surrounding desert. The hill also provides a great spot for watching the sunset over the never-ending landscape. Trek up to the terraced ruins crowning the peak for a unique and peaceful experience. Hikers can also explore the nearby Valle del Arcoíris (Rainbow Valley), a sandstone canyon whose tall cliffs are full of petroglyphs depicting ancient cultures. When visiting the site make sure to keep a lookout for local wildlife, including lizards, vultures and snakes.
