Located close to the Provencher Boulevard, the bridge was designed to bridge the historic downtown and Exchange District. Built in 1880 and opened in 1882, it is one of the oldest working steel bridges in the city. With a total length of 40 m and width of 9 m and made of open steel truss, the bridge stands steadfast over the Assiniboine River amidst the elegant and old fashioned architecture of the city. It is an iconic landmark and an important site of remembrance for the citizens of Winnipeg. At the bridge, you can soak in the breathtaking beauty of the views of the Assiniboine River and the city.
