📍 Italy
Centro Spaziale del Lario is a satellite ground station near Gera Lario, at the northern end of Lake Como in the Province of Como. Its large parabolic antennas connect this Alpine landscape with orbiting spacecraft, creating an unusual contrast between advanced communications infrastructure, the open plain near the lake, and the surrounding mountain slopes. The white dishes, geometric support structures, and changing antenna angles give the site its distinctive photographic identity, especially when framed against dark ridges or low clouds. As an operational technical facility, it is not a conventional visitor attraction; views and photographs should be taken from public areas without approaching restricted compounds.
