Central Mosque

The Central Mosque in the city of Cambridge marks its 60th anniversary this year and is one of the largest places of worship in Cambridgeshire. It stands proud as a testament to the diverse and vibrant culture of the local Muslim community. The building is an example of traditional Islamic architecture, with two large golden domes, two minarets towering from the main building and intricate tile details along the facade. Inside, the mosque is awash with natural light and traditional Islamic furnishings provide a sense of serenity. There are separate prayer rooms for men and women and the main prayer hall can accommodate up to 900 worshippers. Visitors are welcome to explore the interior and can find out more about Islam and its customs with the on-site cultural centre. The mosque is open daily, with separate opening times for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
