Centennial Bridge
📍 From Riverfront Trail, United States
Centennial Bridge is an impressive engineering feat connecting Davenport, Iowa and Rock Island, Illinois in the United States, crossing the Mississippi River. The bridge was built in 1940 and, at the time of its construction, it was the longest and widest double-deck lift bridge ever constructed. A large concrete tower supports the main span, which stands 210 feet above the river and extends 885 feet long. The roadway is 16 feet wide and has sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. It provides a great panoramic view of the Mississippi River and the cities of Davenport and Rock Island. It is an important part of the area's history and is accessible by car or bike, and is an ideal place for photographers to capture the stunning river views and architecture.
