The Cattedrale Santa Maria Assunta, a novarian Gothic style cathedral, is a beautiful landmark in the city of Novara, Italy. It is one of the most important Christian monuments in Northern Italy, and within it, there are numerous impressive works of art. The Cathedral was first constructed in the 12th century, and was rebuilt and enlarged in the 16th century. During WWII, it suffered some damage but was renovated to look the same as before. Inside the church, there are works of art from both the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and several precious paintings. Visitors can admire the stunning columns, wood carvings, and marble sculptures of its facade and also learn more about the religious history of the city. Even though the Cathedral is primarily of religious importance, it remains open to all visitors and provides a unique insight into the art, culture and history of Novara.
