The Cattedrale and Piazza Quintana de Vivos in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, are some of the oldest and most beautiful parts of the city. The Cattedrale, also known as the Santiago Cathedral, is an abundant symbol of Galicia’s legacy, standing proudly since the mid-12th century as a prominent piece of Romanesque architecture and featuring a rich collection of sculptures and artworks. The Cattedrale is built in a unique and spectacular style, flanked by two unique octagonal towers the pinnacle of which is the golden botafumeiro, a popular feature and central part of any religious service in Santiago. Just a few minutes away, Piazza Quintana de Vivos is an old medieval market square that has been used as marketplace for centuries, and is now a popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike. In this picturesque square, you can find many shops, restaurants, and street artists. Additionally, there are two beautiful churches, great for sightseeing. Stroll around this piazza and you’ll be able to soak up the sunny Spanish atmosphere and take in the community spirit.
