The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, also known as the Cathedral of St. James, is an 11th-century Roman Catholic church located in the heart of Spain's Galician city of Santiago de Compostela. This magnificent church is sometimes referred to as the "Cathedral of Light" because of its glorious stained glass windows. The marble facade and ancient bell tower are remarkable examples of Romanesque architecture and a must-see for any visitor to Spain. Inside the Cathedral are the remains of St. James and his two disciples, buried in silver urns within the crypt. The Cathedral's Crypt, treasury, museum and library are all worthy of visiting, and the stunning choir screen and splendid cloisters are stunning. Whether you’re looking to soak in the history or soak in the fantastic architecture, a visit to Santiago de Compostela’s Cattedrale shouldn’t be missed.
