
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta is a Roman Catholic church located in Urbino, Italy. The first building on the site was constructed in the eleventh century. The church became a cathedral in 1740, and underwent considerable renovations in the late nineteenth century. The main entrance to the cathedral is a grand doorway in the Romanesque style, featuring a cycle of biblical scenes. Inside the cathedral, one can admire the ornate decorations, including a seventeenth century organ. The façade also features a 13th century tabernacle, a baroque façade, and an impressive rose window. The altar of St. Ursula, located in the presbytery, is a must-see. It was designed by the great Italian painter and sculptor, Federico Barocci. Visitors would be wise to visit this majestic building and marvel at its beauty.
