Cathedral Saint-Étienne d'Auxerre, commonly referred to as Auxerre Cathedral, is an ancient church in Auxerre, France. It stands proudly along the Yonne river and is made up of red and beige sandstone walls. The Cathedral is the physical representation of the town's spiritual history, as it was used as a place of worship for centuries before. Its construction began in the 11th century, with some parts still surviving from that time. The inside of the church is decorated with lavish mosaics, stained-glass windows and some beautiful paintings that date back to the 16th century. The entrance gate is beautiful and adorned with sculptures. This cathedral is a must-see for any visitor to Auxerre, not only to admire a beautiful church but also to reconnect with the town's true spiritual history.
