The Cathédrale Notre-Dame is an iconic Gothic-style cathedral in the heart of Paris. Its construction began in 1163 and was completed in 1345. It stands as the finest example of French Gothic architecture and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. The cathedral has become a symbol of the history and culture of Paris, appearing in films, art forms and literature. it is the most visited monument in Paris, with over thirteen million visitors each year. Some of its highlights include the South Rose Window, the West Facade and the choir stalls, among many other architectural features. Inside the cathedral, there are a few stained glass windows, exquisite sculptures and beautiful paintings to admire. Its main entrance is on the western side, but the other three main entrances are also accessible. Masses are regularly held at Notre-Dame and many Catholic ceremonies, such as baptisms, can often be seen taking place.
