Cathédrale Notre-Dame d'Amiens is a magnificent 13th-century Gothic cathedral located in the center of Amiens in northern France. Its breathtaking spire is 400 feet tall, making it the tallest cathedral in France. Inside, the cathedral has an impressive array of stained glass windows, sculptures, and mosaics. Its interior décor is unique and demonstrates the full range of medieval art styles. The most striking feature is the large internal space, with columns reaching up to the height of the vaults. This is made possible by an innovative construction technique using flying buttresses. The choir and apse feature stunning carvings by the celebrated woodworker Peter Sandrart. Visitors can also find a preserved 13th-century crypt containing the tombs of several important local figures. Cathédrale Notre-Dame d'Amiens is considered to be the pinnacle of Gothic high architecture and a must-see for all visitors to Amiens.
