Cathedral of St. Nicholas
📍 Poland
The majestic Cathedral of St. Nicholas stands tall in the city of Bielsko-Biała, Poland. This neo-Gothic style structure was constructed between 1856 and 1858 and its interior is decorated in the Baroque style. The old Church of St. Nicholas, which stood in its place before, was built in the 15th century and was destroyed by a fire in 1844. The cathedral is the tallest religious building in the city and its steep bell tower, soaring up to 78 meters in height, can be seen from many parts of the city. The main entrance of the building is guarded by two impressive lions, crafted from bronze. Inside, the majestic stained-glass windows and impressive marble columns are reminders of the building’s grandeur. The Cathedral is open to visitors throughout the year and is an excellent example of Church architecture.
