The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is an iconic landmark located in the center of Moscow. It is a monumental orthodox church and one of the highest cathedrals in the world. Built between 1839 and 1883 it was destroyed in 1931 by the communist government. Later, the cathedral was rebuilt in 2019 after falling into disrepair for many years. The cathedral stands about 103 meters tall and its dome reaches a dizzying peak of 80 meters! Inside, the walls are adorned with beautiful artwork and the iconostasis displays magnificent iconographic pieces. Visitors and photographers will also be able to enjoy its numerous chapels, galleries, museums and cloisters. There are even some interactive exhibits to increase the educational value. You will certainly take away a unique experience from this incredible cathedral.
