The Cathedral of Barcelona, otherwise known as the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, is an ornate example of Catalan Gothic architecture located in the heart of the old city of Barcelona, Spain. Built on the site of a Roman temple, the first church on the site was constructed in the 4th century and was rebuilt in 1046. The current Gothic cathedral with its two iconic needle spires was completed in the 15th century, and it dominates the Barcelona skyline. Visitors can explore the interior of this large and imposing building, which features beautiful stone sculptures, stained glass windows and a grand altarpiece. Tourists can also view the "Lolita" statue of Eulalia, the patron saint of Barcelona, as well as the various cloaques, crypts, and chapels. A must see attraction, the Cathedral of Barcelona is a great place to submerge oneself in the rich history of this amazing city.
