📍 From Calle Mariano Domínguez Berrueta, Spain
The colossal Cathedral of León is a major symbol of the city, with its towering towers. The construction began in the thirteenth century and was completed in the fourteenth century. The style is Gothic, with a wealth of details on the triangular gables and richly decorated walls. Inside, one of the most outstanding features is the richly coloured stained glass windows, as well as the sarcophagus of King Ordoño II, a major figure in the history of the city. The Cathedral is open to visitors and serves as a great learning experience and opportunity to admire gorgeous artwork. Adjacent to the Cathedral is the cloister, built in the thirteenth century and looking out to the main square. Be sure to visit the Sacramental Chapel, with its treasure of religious artifacts, free of charge.
