The Catedral de Jerez, also referred to as Santa María de la Asunción, is located in the Spanish city of Jerez de la Frontera. Dating back to the early 16th Century, it is a spectacularly beautiful building and the most important architectural landmark in the entire city.

The cathedral is situated in the Plaza del Cabildo, a beautiful square housing the Cathedral and the City Hall buildings. Inside the cathedral you can find works by Spanish painters, such as Murillo, Zurbarán and Valdés Leal, as well as astounding marble altars. Its tall and slender towers and spectacularly detailed façade stand out as the most remarkable part of the building. The Catedral de Jerez is exciting both inside and out, and can be visited for free. It is open every day from 10am to 1.30pm and 5.30 to 7.30pm. A visit is well worth your while, and a great way to explore the rich heritage of the city.
