Castleton is an attractive village nestled among breathtaking landscapes of Derbyshire, England. Its primary claim to fame is Peveril Castle, built in the 11th century by William Peveril and traditionally said to be owned by William’s father, William the Conqueror. The castle was the site of the first legal prosecution for witchcraft in England. The village itself is popular with tourists and has a unique selection of shops, pubs and cafes to explore.
