Castle Square, Warsaw
📍 Poland
Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy) in Warsaw is one of the city’s main attractions and is often considered its most iconic square. It is situated in the Old Town and acts as the beating heart of the city, with a jet of water overlooking the historic, reconstructed 16th century facades of the colourful tenement-houses and other landmarks. It’s easy to fall in love with the architecture here, from the Krolewska street lined with Old Town houses to the Warsaw Barbican, what used to be an instruction of the 15th century fortifications, as well as the King Sigismund III Vasa's Column – these make up the picturesque view of the square. On summer days, photographers get the privilege of capturing the historic scene, with pigeons gathered around the scene and people taking a stroll. With both the royal palace and the old town market adjacent to the square, it is a great starting point in exploring Warsaw.
