Castle Square in Warszawa is an iconic city attraction and Poland's most famous medieval square. Located in the center of the city, the square historically served as the marketplace, where traders gathered and the city's ambassadors often made their official greetings. In the center of the square stands the imposing Royal Castle, a symbol of the city's proud history. Surrounding the square are several historic buildings, including the historic Sigismund's Column which was erected in 1644 to commemorate King Sigismund III's victory over Swedish forces. There are also two statues located on the square, one in honor of King Sigismund III and the other commemorating Tadeusz Kosciuszko, a leader of the 1794Warsaw uprising against the Russian Empire. To experience the full grandeur of the square, visitors must venture to the very top of the Sigismund's Column, from where they can take in the beautiful view of the square, the Royal Castle and the surrounding city skyline.
