The Castle of Monolithos Viewpoint is located in the small village of Monolithos, on the Greek Island of Santorini. The observation point is an obvious choice for visitors to take photos of the iconic Greek scenery, offering breathtaking views of nearby bays, beaches, and the volcano. Built in the 16th century by the Venetian Crusaders, the fortress sits atop a 74m high volcanic rock formation. Inside, visitors can explore its long history and admire the Cycladic architecture. Due to its isolated vantage point, it was an important point of defense in antiquity. From the fort, visitors can head to Akrotiri beach or take a boat ride from the small harbor. Although more difficult to access, those who experience the Castle of Monolithos Viewpoint will be handsomely rewarded with stunning views and insight into a historic past.
