The Castle of Lindoso is situated in Lindoso, Portugal, and is considered to be one of the most important Medieval Castles in the region. It was built in 1492 and served as a powerful defensive stronghold against the Castilian army. The castle is built on a hilltop and consists of a keep and two walls with four towers. The keep is the oldest feature of the castle and it still contains some of the original stonework, along with the Manueline style decoration. The towers and walls are impressive and provide stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The castle is a popular tourist destination and has become even more so since the renovation which was carried out by the Portuguese government in 2000. Visitors can explore the castle and the grounds, as well as take a guided tour which allows access to most areas of the castle. Visiting the Castle of Lindoso is a great experience and it provides a unique insight into Medieval Portugal.
