The Castle of Almansa is one of the most iconic features of the town of Almansa in the Castilla-La Mancha region of Spain. This castle dates back to the 12th century, when it was the defensive fortress of the Castilian king, Alfonso VIII. It was later restored in the 18th century to reinforce its battlements and keep. It is considered one of the best examples of militarized Gothic architecture in the area, with its four rectangular towers, two cylindrical towers, and two entrance gates with drawbridges. The castle is surrounded by an inner defensive wall and an outer wall which are separated by a moat, making it a unique and photogenic spectacle. As well as its views of Almansa and its surrounding countryside, there is also a museum inside the castle featuring exhibits that tell the history of the castle and the people who lived there. There are also many festivals held at the castle throughout the year, so it's a great place to visit in any season.
