Castillo de Salobreña is an iconic 11th-century castle situated on top of a hill in Salobreña, a town on the Costa Tropical in Granada province, Andalusia. It is one of the best-preserved fortifications of its kind and is believed to have been built by Ibn Hacam, a magnificent moorish leader. The castle offers amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea and the lush green valleys below, making it one of the most remarkable sights in the area. Inside, visitors will find old cannons, Moorish architectures and the remains of what was once a castle’s cistern. Even though it is no longer in use, the castle is still a stunning sight and its exterior walls, many turrets and its crenellated towers reflect the region’s proud heritage. A visit to Castillo de Salobreña is a must for any traveler visiting Andalusia.
