Castillo de Brissac (Château de Brissac) sits in the village of Brissac Loire Aubance in Maine-et-Loire, a Loire Valley château whose mass combines a medieval keep with later Renaissance and classical rebuilding. The castle’s layered history is visible in its tall, turreted silhouette, steep slate roofs, rows of mullioned windows and corner towers that rise from a water-filled moat and wooded park. It remains the private seat of the Cossé-Brissac family, which gives the place a lived-in scale uncommon to empty monuments. For photographers the vertical emphasis rewards tight compositions that isolate turrets against sky or use the moat and formal gardens to add reflections and foreground structure; interior courtyards present rhythm and symmetry in stone and shadow.
