The Castillo de Alcalá de Chivert is the hilltop fortress that dominates Alcalà de Xivert in Castellón, sitting above the old town and commanding views across the coastal plain toward the Mediterranean and the nearby Sierra de Irta. Its stone curtain walls, towers and crenellations create a jagged silhouette that frames the town below; weathered masonry, patched repairs and narrow arrow slits give the structure a layered, tactile texture. Photographically the site is defined by strong horizontals of wall and skyline, steep cobbled approaches lined with whitewashed houses, and wide panoramas from the ramparts that place medieval battlements against sea and mountain backdrops.
