Castello di Alboino stands above Piazza Maggiore at the upper end of Feltre’s hilltop historic centre, in the Belluno area of Veneto. Its name recalls Alboin, the Lombard king, and its elevated position reflects the defensive role of this part of the town. The tower known as the Campanon forms a distinctive landmark above the surrounding rooftops. Seen from the square, the castle’s masonry and vertical silhouette contrast with the civic buildings below and the mountainous landscape beyond.
